At Baxta, we’re empowering a rescue culture to help tackle the massive issue of animal welfare and homelessness. Knowing that there are over 200,000 dogs euthanised throughout Australia annually, this season, Baxta joined forces with Pound Paws to help raise awareness of their ‘Adopt, don’t shop’ initiative.
Pooches, puppuccinos and paw-some activities!
With Sydney’s most iconic beach as our backyard, endless puppuccinos and tail-wagging pooches, Pound Paws Dog Day at Bondi Beach was nothing short of extraordinary. It was one paw forward to creating a pet-friendly world, and it was a stunning day for it.
Welcome to Baxta’s VIP lounge.
Our Baxstar team arrived at 10 am to set up the ultimate VIP (Very Important Pooch) experience. Draped in royal purple, plush pillows, and popular puppy toys, we welcomed all pooches like royalty.
Every dog was a VIP – spoiled with a platter full of gourmet canapes from Dapper Doggy Dining, dogs had a choice between mini sliders or fried chicken waffles. The mini sliders were undoubtedly the crowd favourite; within a blink of an eye, they were all gone! Puppuccinos were made by Pip, our Baxta barista, to keep pooches energised. Over 100 puppuccinos, topped with a delicious carob garnish were served! No visitor walked away disappointed.
Getting social with Baxta’s ambassadors.
For our two Baxta ambassadors, Daisy and Basil, we set up an exclusive bed at the back of the lounge where they could escape the pup-arrazzis. Basil and Daisy greeted every visitor with a tail-wag and a big sloppy kiss when they weren’t busy paw-sing for the camera!
Winner winner, chicken dinner!
Whether you were feeling lucky or not, everyone who stopped by our VIP lounge was a winner! Anyone who had their Baxta app handy on their mobile was instantly rewarded with a lucky dip. Three prizes were up for grabs — a gourmet treat, a treat bag filled with goodies, or one of our limited edition Baxta bandanas.
Many pooches posed for the pup-arazzi’s with their new Baxta bandana, although paw-rents may have used bribes in the form of treats to take the perfect shot. By the end of the day, there was barely a dog in sight that wasn’t rocking a Baxta bandana!
A never-ending day of fun-filled activities.

Outside of the Baxta VIP lounge, there were lots of fun activities going on. The Bondi Doggie Lifeguard challenge was the most talked-about competition. Pooches were able to experience a day in the life of a Bondi Lifeguard. Other challenges included the Best Dog Trick and Best Dog Costume contest with VIP judges featuring Dr Kate Adams from Bondi Vet and Coco Stedman from Married At First Sight. In the morning, pups and paw-rents participated in Pup Pilates, Dog Treat Tasting, and Best Dressed Dog, where the registration fees were donated to dog rescue groups.
Baxta’s $100 fur-ever home kickstart.
In support of Pound Paws’ ‘Adopt, don’t shop’ initiative, Baxta is working with Animal Welfare League NSW, Liberty Foundation, Animal Trust Society, and Maggie’s Rescue to encourage pet adoption. These organisations are a part of a joint initiative to help every animal to become rehabilitated and re-homed.
Looking for a pet to join your family? Baxta is giving five new rescue pet owners a fur-ever home kickstart, which includes some essentials and a $100 Visa gift card. What better way to start off a forever home for the new member of your family.
