Beach time and chill at Sydney’s best dog beaches
Australians love getting outdoors to enjoy the sun, surf and sand. And there’s no better way to do that than hitting the closest dog-friendly beach with your full-time furry friend.
This lovely beach overlooks the stunning harbour so you and your doggies can enjoy the best of what Sydney has to offer. As the only official off-leash beach in the Eastern Suburbs, your fur babies can roam free all day at Rose Bay Beach while you laze the afternoon away. It’s doggo heaven!
With a huge picnic area across from to the beach, this beach dog park is great from the pooch to swim while the hoomans relax. There are off-leash areas and plenty of other friendly hounds for your fur baby to socialise with.
If you want a great place to watch the sunset and Melbourne city views with your pooch pal Brighton Dog beach is for you. There are sand dunes for Fido to run-up and down and even poo bags are provided for your convenience. Plus an off-leash area surrounded by a fence for your peace of mind.
O’Sullivan Beach is a beautiful location for active dogs and beach lovers who like to enjoy a sunrise or sunset walk. This quiet beach has easy access for cars and great, clean space for letting your pet pals have a good run.
Coffee caravan on hand for the hoomans and dog lead-free areas and beach for the hounds. We reckon you’ll enjoy the grassy areas and wooden tables and chairs for eating lunch while overlooking the ocean.
Casuarina Beach is our pick for Darwin as it has plenty of room (especially at low tide) to let your dogs frolic on the sand and in the water. The sandstone cliff edges are tresś picturesque and there’s an excellent walk from Rapid Creek to Sandfly Creek for you and your fur baby to enjoy.
Ok, so you’ll be hard-pressed to find a beach in Canberra, but there are plenty of rivers and lakes your dog can play in. Uriarra Crossing East is ideal to visit on a hot summer day. You’ll find easy access to the river, lovely swimming spots and picnic areas. This spot gives your pooch the freedom to run without constraint, play, sniff, chase, roll and romp to their heart’s content. Simply pawfect!
